After their inspection in June earlier this year, St Andrew’s Prep School in Eastbourne has received an excellent report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
The team of six inspectors observed lessons and activities, conducted interviews with pupils and staff and examined samples of pupils’ class work. The core values of the school shone through in the detailed report: Pupils achieve excellent standards and combine self confidence with warmth and a lack of arrogance or pretence. The school is praised for the richness and diversity of its curriculum. The children make excellent personal development as they progress the school.
New Headmaster, Simon Severino said, “This is a superb report which everyone in the St Andrew’s community should be proud of and celebrate. St Andrew’s is a wonderful school and I am very much looking forward to retaining and improving its very positive reputation.”
The inspectors advised on a small number of action points and moves are already afoot to improve the tracking of pupils’ progress by making full use of information from assessment.
In what has been a year of change for the school due to the amalgamation
with Eastbourne College back in February, it was observed that the school
had ‘…maintained its ethos, sense of identity and unity of purpose very
well.’ The amalgamation with Eastbourne College, welcoming a new Headmaster
and receiving an outstanding inspection report is the start of a new and
positive era for St Andrew’s.
