Support with Extra English

We offer extra English lessons to all our overseas students. The programme is tailored to suit the individual child. They are assessed on arrival and recommendations are made to parents through their agent/guardian. Lessons can be one to one with the teacher or in small groups (maximum 6). This specialist department ensures that lessons are motivating, beneficial and enjoyable. Classes are designed to help children cope with the demands of the wider curriculum, so concentrate on reading, writing and vocabulary development. This enables children to integrate into the mainstream as quickly as possible.

Dependent on the level of a child’s English, children will be withdrawn from French and Latin to have extra English lessons. However, those children whose English is stronger can remain in these lessons if it is the parents’ wish. Cultural trips are also organised so that overseas children may experience English culture to the full.
