A child's need for additional or specialist support will often be in one or more of the following areas:

Children's learning experiences are of paramount importance at St Andrew’s. It is vital that all children are enabled to access the curriculum fully. No two children are the same, but many have a specific need whereby some specialist help is needed to facilitate this fundamental aim.
Whilst we have a whole school approach to meeting the varied needs of all pupils at St Andrew's, the Learning Support department is an important resource centre within this structure to support those children who have been identified as needing additional or specialist support.
These needs are determined by an internal assessment of the child, to include strengths and weaknesses, learning preferences and so on, after which specific provision is recommended and implemented. The child's progress is monitored closely and reviewed regularly.
The team of specialist learning support teachers is a particular strength of St Andrew's and children can receive one to one or small group sessions, as appropriate.
